Tenby & Pembrokeshire Coast
Heading West and we feel the scenery really changing. They say Pembrokeshire is like Cornwall without the crowds and Chris Salisbury, born and bred in Tenby has no reason to leave. He has recently been promoted to look after all Pembrokeshire Council harbours including Fishguard.

Tenby is famous for its sand, however in his time as HM, Chris has seen significant shifts in where the sand lies. No longer is Tenby beach fully covered over in sand - the underlying rock is now exposed. No longer is the channel into the harbour deep - there is a bar developing at the entrance (see photo 4), even though he dredged it a couple of months ago. Tenby's sluicing gate no longer works and so diggers and dumper trucks have to do the work annually. Chris is convinced global warming is changing the coastline of Pembrokeshire. Before I left Tenby to sail west, I enjoyed looking at the new RNLI boathouse, the old one in the foreground of the photo having been converted into a house and featured on TVs Grand Designs.

As you can see from the video, the Pembrokeshire sea is blue! The dramatic cliffs are perfect for rock climbers and "coasteerers" and the reward at the far end of south Pembrokeshire is the safe anchorage of Dale, tucked just inside Milford Haven.
