Harbour Master Sailing Challenge 2019 to 2023 (Ireland still to be written up)

Porthdinllaen (pronounced "Dincline") no longer has a Harbour Master but I just had to include this magical tiny harbour on the north coast of the Lynn Peninsula.

If history had taken a different turn in 1810, this National Trust gem would be the site of Britain's second largest RoRo ferry port and Thomas Telford would have built a road connecting it to London. (The full story will be revealed in the next post about Holyhead).

Instead it is an idyllic shallow beach harbour with Osyter beds, a golf course and a delightful beach side pub with a funny Welsh name....oh....and yet another RNLI station.

We enjoyed a pint and fresh lobster supper prepared by Good Dog's head chef Toby. The next morning we accompanied the charity sailing yacht Challenge Wales into the entrance of the treacherous Manai Straights.

Thank you to the now retired HM of Porthdinllaen for his mooring advice and I will try and get Reeds to remove your home number from their Almanac!
