Harbour Master Sailing Challenge 2019 to 2023 (Ireland still to be written up)

Newton Ferrers

March 31, 2019
Harbour Master Number 4. The Yealm River (Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo) Robert Dearn is just retiring as Harbour Master. (I am pictured with mutual friend and Newton Ferrers resident Stephen Maltby). Robert told me a unique thing about his harbour are the Ospreys seen on the upper reaches of the river and the deer that are seen swimming the river. The most unusual thing he has ever done is tow a dead horse with his boat! Stephen added to this story...... when he once saw the HM towing a dead sheep behind his boat, Stephen asked him why? He replied "Because it's 'bring a pet to work' day!". Other photos are sailing into Plymouth. Tonight moored up the Tavy at Cargreen...just yards from Cornwall!
