Now for something completely different! Charlestown Harbour is like no other harbour and its Harbour Master is like no other HM. Phil Holt is an engineer not a mariner. For a very good reason. The harbour is an engineering feat!
Originally a China clay port it is now a film set, a tourist attraction and above all a stunning place to visit even on a blustery April day.
Phil maintains the harbour and its huge lock gates.....himself! With resident historic ships and Hollywood A listers visiting regularly, Phil has seen a lot. His USP is the resident Shipwright and his most unusual job was making a John West Salmon advert. Thank you Phil and Colette for fitting me into your busy schedule on your opening day of the season. You HAVE to visit Charlestown!
